Chester Christmas Market at the Town Hall Square
The Chester Christmas Market will run this year from November 16th to December 22nd. It’s ideal for anyone who is looking for something nostalgic and magical. Unlike other markets, the Chester Christmas market is not commercialized and occurs at the heart of the city centre.
There will be more than seventy traditional wooden chalets draped around the annual Christmas tree as is tradition. Use this opportunity to browse locally produced treats and gifts, handmade crafts, hot mulled wine, and even stocking fillers.
Before you leave, make sure to fill up with the tasty hog roast bap before making your way to the Real Ale Bar. It’s where you need to be if you want to enjoy a regional cask ale or festive cocktail before heading back home.
The Chester Christmas market runs every day of the week and operates from the city’s Town Hall Square. It is a FREE entry event.
Virtual Christmas Market
As was the case last year, the virtual Chester Christmas market will once again be open this year to anyone who would like to indulge in some last-minute shopping. The virtual market will go live on Facebook starting on November 18th and remain open until December 22nd.
The market offers an amazing line-up of gift ideas, crafts, and food and drink. You’re bound to have a great time shopping from the comfort of your home. Be sure to check the official Chester Christmas Market Facebook page to learn the opening and closing times.

Filled with a blanket of snow, this is a chance to tour Santa’s workshop and learn about the history of coins in stockings and how elves have been making toys for years. And this is in addition to sorting letters alongside the Royal Mint’s coins.
A trip to the Royal Mint should provide a magical time for the entire family. It’s a place steeped in rich history, which offers children a chance to meet and interact with Santa. At the end of the trip, each child will get to leave with a shiny gift for themselves.
Christmas Craft Fair at the Goshawk
The Goshawk held a Christmas craft fair in 2020, which was hugely successful. Its success motivated them to make it an annual event. Start your Christmas holidays by visiting the Goshawk on Saturday, November 13th, for its craft fair.
The fair brings together amazing crafters, independent local businesses, designers, and other community members for a mid-morning session of Christmas celebrations. On offer will be fantastic foods and bespoke gifts and products.
Walk around the restaurant, sampling the unique products as you listen to live acoustic Christmas songs being played in the background.

Christmas Boat Parties
In December, Chester Boat will be lighting up River Dee with their renowned and widely revered Christmas parties. After taking a break last year due to COVID, they hope to make this year’s parties bigger and better than ever before.
The Christmas Party Nights Afloat is recommended for office parties, hangout parties with family and friends, and people looking for a party with a nautical twist. Christmas jumpers, fancy dresses, and costumes are always welcome.
Clothes Swap and Repair Café at the Grosvenor Museum
Are you tired of your old clothes and fancy getting new ones without having to spend a penny? You’re in luck! The Grosvenor Museum will be holding a clothes swap event this year on December 4th. You’re invited to bring your old clothes, or those you no longer wear to trade for new pieces.
The event starts at eleven in the morning and continues until four in the afternoon. There will be clothes for people of all ages, genders, sizes, and shapes. The more variety you can bring to the clothes swap, the better!
Seasonal swaps and Christmas jumpers are highly welcomed.
Apart from the clothes swap, the museum will also be running a repair café at the same venue. Use this opportunity to pick up new skills and techniques for mending torn clothes. Attendees are invited to carry any clothes that may need repairs.
There will be talented volunteers on site who can help give the clothes a new lease of life.
